Romania's construction equipment market fell by 19% in 2025 compared with the previous year, shows data presented on Wednesday at a press conference by representatives of Bergerat Monnoyeur Romania.

"2025 was a year of adjustment for the construction equipment market, after the record levels reached in 2022 - 2023 both locally and across Europe. In Romania, around 2,540 machines were sold, down 19% from the previous year," the company said.

Despite the market contraction, Bergerat Monnoyeur Romania, the leading distributor of construction equipment, posted an estimated (unaudited) turnover of 126 million euros. The company continued to expand, operating with a team of roughly 300 employees and focusing its strategy on sustainable projects, integrated solutions, and measurable operational efficiency.

According to the company, one in five construction machines in Romania is a Cat, with the brand dominating key segments such as bulldozers (one in two units), excavators and backhoe loaders (one in three), and motor graders (two in three).

Globally, Caterpillar Inc. has 2.1 million active machines, of which 1.6 million are connected, more than 30 million engines produced, and the worlds largest fleet of autonomous equipment. To date, the company's machines have moved 11 billion tonnes of material with zero accidents.

Company representatives emphasized that connectivity and artificial intelligence are becoming essential drivers of transformation in the construction industry. Data collected from worksites - hours worked, idle time, fuel consumption, emissions - are no longer just reporting indicators but operational tools enabling fast and predictable decision-making.

"The future of construction is not about man or machine, but about mixed teams: Human + Machine + AI. Cat AI Assistant is the link that turns data into decisions and worksites into intelligent, connected ecosystems. In Romania, by the end of 2025, around 5,000 Cat machines are already connected," said Liviu Neagu, CEO of Bergerat Monnoyeur Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

He added that the industry is rapidly moving toward autonomous equipment and smart digital solutions that boost productivity and safety at a time when pressure on costs, profitability, and deadlines is increasing. "The difference is no longer made by the power of the machine, but by the ability to control, measure, and improve performance. Artificial intelligence helps us turn this data into real competitive advantages for clients," Neagu said.

Monnoyeur is a family-owned business founded in 1906, operating in 24 countries across five continents, with nearly 9,000 employees and a turnover of more than 3.4 billion euros in 2025. The group is active in construction, logistics, energy production and engine systems, and agriculture, offering transport and digitalization solutions and maintaining partnerships with major global brands such as Caterpillar, John Deere, Trimble, Autocad, and Mitsubishi.

In Romania, the group is represented by Bergerat Monnoyeur, Eneria, IPSO Agricultura, Sitech, and Chrono Flex.

A Caterpillar partner for nearly 100 years, Bergerat Monnoyeur has consistently built its business strategy around services and customer satisfaction.

With a turnover exceeding 67.6 billion dollars in 2025, Caterpillar Inc. remains the world's leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural-gas engines, industrial turbines, and diesel-electric locomotives.
