Romania reports 81,799 cases of respiratory infections, March 23-29, one flu death

The number of acute respiratory infection cases - clinical flu, acute upper respiratory tract infections and pneumonia - in Romania for the week March 23-29 is standing at 81,799, down 2.9% from the previous week, and there was also one confirmed influenza death, the National Institute of Public Health (INSP) reported on Thursday.

The number is down 2.9% from the previous week (84,209) and down 11.9% from the same week of the previous season (92,865). The variation in addition to the calculated average of 84,271 cases in the last five seasons, excluding pandemic seasons, was 2.9%.

According to INSP, 486 cases of clinical influenza were reported at national level in the same period, as against 2,413 cases in the same week of the previous season.

The following was also reported: 18 laboratory-confirmed cases of influenza, including 11 cases of unsubtyped influenza A virus, two cases of influenza AH3 virus, four cases of influenza AH1 virus and one case of influenza B virus.

As of March 29, 1,282,044 people in Romania vaccinated against influenza were recorded in the National Electronic Vaccination Register (RENV).
