Romania imported, during the first four months of 2018, a quantity of 2.655 million tons of crude oil (tep), by 348,300 tep (15.1 percent) higher than the one imported in the similar period of 2017, according to data centralized by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
Crude oil production totaled 1.107 million tep, by 3 percent (34,500 tep) smaller than that of the previous year.
According to Romania's Energy Strategy, published on the Ministry of Economy's website, the domestic crude oil production is estimated to be halved to approximately 2 million tons in 2030.
Romania's proven crude oil reserves will be exhausted in 12 to 15 years, at the current exploitation rate.
