Social Democratic Party (PSD) Chairman Sorin Grindeanu believes that the Day of the Union of the Romanian Principalities represents 'the first important historic step towards the reconstruction of Romania.'
According to the PSD leader, the union of Moldavia with Wallachia was made possible thanks to the unity of Romanians and the vision of the political class of that time.
'Today we mark 167 years since the first Union of the Romanian Principalities: Moldavia and Wallachia. It is a historic moment that was made possible by the unity of Romanians and the vision of the political class of that time. The same determination and clear vision have since contributed, at various moments in history, to building modern Romania, a member state of the European Union and NATO. It is a lesson we must not forget, especially in this complicated geopolitical period,' Grindeanu wrote on his Facebook page.
