National leader of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Sorin Grindeanu said on Monday that the package of solidarity measures put forth by the Social Democrats will have to be included in the 2026 national budget and the packages on public administration and economic recovery are finalised and the Government is expected to decide what procedure it will use for their passage.
Grindeanu was asked, at the Palace of Parliament, if the solidarity package put forth by the PSD will pass at the same time as the economic recovery package and where the Government will find money to implement it.
"The solidarity package - perhaps we were misunderstood and these are measures that must be included in the budget, those related to solidarity - will not be a package taken up in Parliament. They are measures funded under the national budget. If we refer to the local and central administration packages, plus the reform package, at the moment we are negotiations are closed everywhere and we expect the government to come up with the procedure it wants to apply. I don't have an answer so far if it is possible through an emergency ordinance. If they can be passed by emergency ordinance, we have nothing against them, both at the same time," he said.
At a convention on Sunday of its National Political Council, PSD decided to support the urgent adoption of the party's economic recovery package, along with a solidarity one, which aims at measures to protect pensioners and other vulnerable categories "in the face of the pressures generated by accelerated increases in the cost of living".
