Projects worth a total of over 4.3 billion lei have been submitted by applicants from Arges County within the South-Muntenia Regional Program 2021-2027, the County Council (CJ) announced on Thursday.
According to a press release citing data from the annual report on the status of the program's implementation, published by the South-Muntenia Regional Development Agency, both the high number of projects submitted and contracted, as well as the strategic investments implemented by the Arges County Council, are noteworthy.
"Arges County consolidates its position as a regional leader in attracting European funds (...). By the end of 2025, Arges County had registered 503 submitted projects, with a total value of 4,349,893,251.42 lei, maintaining its position at the top of the region. In terms of contracting, Arges has accumulated 165 contracted projects, totaling 2,440,175,751.97 lei, and payments made to beneficiaries are 244,939,033.50 lei, confirming an accelerated pace of implementation," the press release states.
According to the same source, the investments target strategic areas such as the development of SMEs, the digitalization of the administration and the economic environment, energy efficiency, transport infrastructure and the modernization of the educational system.
"Road infrastructure projects play an essential role in the county's performance (...). The Arges County Council also has important projects submitted for financing regarding the energy efficiency of public buildings, the digitalization of public services, the restoration of cultural heritage and the development of infrastructure for electric charging stations on county roads," the press release states.
A high number of projects dedicated to the business environment were also registered. Thus, only within the calls for micro and small enterprises, 238 projects were submitted, with a value of almost 320 million lei, Arges County occupying the first position at regional level.
The South-Muntenia Regional Development Agency is the Managing Authority for the South-Muntenia Regional Program 2021-2027 and manages, in the current financial year, over 1.57 billion euros for citizens from the region's component counties: Arges, Calarasi, Dambovita, Giurgiu, Ialomita, Prahova and Teleorman.
