Justice reforms can no longer be delayed, President Klaus Iohannis said on Tuesday, underscoring that the process of revising the relevant laws must be completed, and "anomalies" such as those generated by the Section for the Investigation of Magistrates (SIIJ) must be removed, agerpres reports.
"Romanians' expectations of a modern, independent and functional justice system are equally current and legitimate. The pandemic and changes in the domestic political environment have hampered the reforms launched in recent years, but they cannot be delayed anymore. The process of revising the laws of justice needs to be completed, and anomalies such as those caused by the Section for the Investigation of Magistrates have to be removed," he said, on the occasion of the presentation of the activity report for this year of the Supreme Council of Magistrates (CSM).
Iohannis said the CSM Plenum needs to use its entire experience for Romania to take concrete steps to reform the justice system.
