President Klaus Iohannis sent, on Tuesday, a message of condolences upon the death of the President of the European Parliament, David Sassoli, emphasizing that he was a friend of Romania and a leader who fought for European values and principles, Agerpres reports.
"Deeply saddened by the sudden passing away of David Sassoli @EP_President. He was a friend of Romania and a leader who fought for European values and principles. His European legacy will endure. My thoughts are with his family," President Iohannis wrote, on Tuesday, on Twitter.
The President of the European Parliament, David Sassoli has died, on Tuesday, at the age of 65. He was admitted to the hospital in the Italian city of Aviano.
