President Nicusor Dan welcomed, on Tuesday, the initiative of the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, to promote international peace and security and announced that he had started "an in-depth process of analyzing the content and implications of the Board of Peace Charter" in order to "establish the degree of compatibility of the new initiative with the existing obligations of the Romanian state".
"President Nicusor Dan welcomes the initiative of the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, regarding the promotion of international peace and security, including the efforts dedicated to identifying solutions for the conflict in Gaza and other major global challenges," the Presidential Administration informed, in a statement sent to AGERPRES.
According to the cited source, the head of state "has initiated an in-depth process of analyzing the content and implications of the Board of Peace Charter, in relation to the international commitments previously assumed by Romania, especially those within the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, as well as the European Union".
"This evaluation aims to establish the degree of compatibility of the new initiative with the existing obligations of the Romanian state and to identify the optimal ways in which Romania can contribute to achieving the common objective of consolidating peace in the world," the cited source states.
About 60 states were invited by Donald Trump to be part of a "Peace Council", proposed by the leader from the White House.
The Presidential Administration confirmed, on Sunday, the receipt of the letter sent by the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, to the Romanian head of state, officially inviting our country to become a member of the "Peace Council".
"The composition of the Council will be announced soon, but I can say with certainty that it is the largest and most prestigious Council ever assembled, at any time and in any place," the American president wrote on his Truth Social platform.
