"We have sustainable economic growth and a predictable and feasible defence system, which consolidates our role as a regional player and security provider in Eastern Europe. This is the second year when we earmark 2 per cent of the GDP for Defence and we are maintaining this objective for the next decade too. The Romanian Government observes thus its commitment made under the governing programme and pays maximum attention to strengthening the country's defence capability, while seeking to reach Romania's major objectives, both in terms of endowment and training of the troops. We are determined to create and develop a regional centre for the defence industry in Romania, which implicitly contributes to the economic development in our country," said Dancila, at the military ceremony dedicated to the Army Day.
