Each parcel with goods with a declared commercial value of less than 150 euros, originating from outside the European Union and entering Romania, will be taxed with 25 lei from January 1, 2026.

The tax applies to parcels containing goods delivered within the framework of distance sales for products imported from states or territories outside the European Union, according to Agerpres.

The responsibility for paying the tax lies with the supplier of the goods, the sender or the digital platform that facilitates the distance sale, depending on the specific situation.

The collection, declaration and transfer of the tax are the responsibility of the postal service providers.

The collected amounts must be transferred to the state budget by the 25th of the month following the month in which the parcel was delivered to the recipient.

The tax declaration procedure will be established by order of the president of the National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF), issued within 30 days from the date of entry into force of Law No. 239/2025, published in the Official Gazette on December 15.
