Among these, are: artificial intelligence; advanced semiconductors; biotechnologies; clean, connected and autonomous mobility; critical raw materials; innovative nuclear technologies.
Romania has fully and on time fulfilled the commitments assumed through Target 267 of the PNRR, a major milestone for the development of the Romanian economy and Romania's integration into strategic European industries, the Ministry of Investments and European Projects (MIPE) also announced last Thursday.
"The target, related to Component C9 - Support for the private sector, research, development and innovation, Investment 4 - Cross-border and multinational projects, aims at Romania's participation in the Important Project of Common European Interest (IPIEC) "Low-energy processors and semiconductor chips" and had a deadline of December 31, 2025," the MIPE press release sent to AGERPRES said.
According to the same source, the MIPE-MEDAT collaboration led to: 23 signed financing agreements, for direct and indirect participants; more than 375 million euros in investments committed through European funds; payments worth approximately 112 million lei, made in December 2025, related to contracts signed in 2024 with direct participants within the IPIEC.
The project structure is designed so that major European investments generate a national ecosystem, in which companies, universities and research institutes collaborate to develop technologies, skills and solutions with high added value, with long-term economic effects, mention MIPE representatives.
Through this initiative, Romania aims to expand participation in strategic industrial projects, strengthen the national innovation ecosystem and attract new European funds for the development of the Romanian economy.
