Doctors who treat obesity will launch on Wednesday, on World Obesity Day, the national education platform dialoginobezitate.ro, dedicated to correct and accessible education for patients.

"At a time when information about obesity is often fragmented or distorted online, a community of doctors directly involved in the management of this chronic disease launches dialoginobezitate.ro, a digital platform dedicated exclusively to correct and accessible education for patients," informs a press release from the Association for Health Counseling and Education (ACES), which is also the initiator of the platform, agerpres reports.

According to the cited source, the platform, created through the joint efforts of partner medical associations and from its own funds, brings together diabetologists, endocrinologists, cardiologists, nephrologists, orthopedists, pulmonologists and other specialists who manage the complications of obesity in everyday practice.

"The project was built out of respect for patients and the need to provide a clear, balanced and evidence-based medical space. In specialist offices, doctors frequently encounter the same questions and the same confusion generated by incomplete or incorrect information in the public space. In reality, obesity is a complex chronic disease, associated with complications that include diabetes, cardiovascular disease, kidney damage, sleep apnea, joint complications and significant psychological impact," the press release reads.

The platform offers patient-friendly explanations, answers to frequently asked questions identified in clinical practice, and educational materials created by doctors with real experience in treating obesity, including from the period before the emergence of new drug therapies.

The content includes interdisciplinary discussions and will feature medical podcasts, with a focus on understanding disease mechanisms and scientifically validated therapeutic options.

According to the same source, the information presented is based on medical guidelines and recommendations in force at international level, so that the patient in Romania has access to the same standard of medical information as any other patient in the world.

"Obesity cannot be reduced to quick fixes or opinions on social media. Correct medical education is part of the treatment. We created this platform out of respect for patients and professional responsibility," said Delia Reurean Pintilei - primary care physician, Diabetes, Nutrition, Metabolic Diseases, project coordinator, quoted in the press release.
