Foreign tourists spent by 120 million euro more in Romania as compared to last year, according to a press release issued for AGERPRES on Tuesday by Tourism Minister Bogdan Trif.
"The Romanian tourism has seen growth everywhere thanks to the measures taken by the Executive in the past year, so the National Institute of Statistics officially confirmed the development of tourism in terms of revenues and the number of foreign tourists who visited Romania. On average, a foreign tourist spent 2,367.7 lei while in Romania, around 50 euro more than in the same period of last year. In total, foreign tourists spent some 1.1 billion euro, which means higher receipts by about 120 million euro extra for the Romanian industry," the press release reads.
The tourism minister says that this year the number of authorizations of tourist accommodation facilities (hotels and hostels) has increased by over 40pct.
