Secretary of state with the MAI Gheorghe Nucu Marin on Tuesday stated there is no information regarding August 10 protests having been financed from abroad.
Gheorghe Nucu Marin had a hearing on Tuesday at the General Prosecutor's Office related to the case file concerning the manner in which the gendarmes intervened during the August 10 street manifestations.
Upon his exit from the Prosecutor's Office headquarters, Nicu Marin was asked by the journalists if he had any information about the Victoriei Square protests being financed from sources from outside the country. "No, absolutely not," he said.
The PSD (Social Democratic Party) leader Liviu Dragnea on September 9 claimed he owned information suggesting foreign sources were behind the street manifestations on August 10.
"There are enough aspects that allows us to talk about a coup d'etat. The protests were financed, as it seems, from sources not from Romania. I am absolutely sure that next week will reveal information on how these protests were financed and organized in a paramilitary style - which was visible - and that they wanted to occupy the Government's headquarters and permanently provoked the gendarmes," said Dragnea.
