Romania received on Monday 988.7 million euro from the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (EAGF), an amount representing the reimbursement of advance payments made to farmers between 16 October and 30 November 2025, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR) said in a press release.

"The reimbursement of these money by the European Commission shows that our payments to farmers are well founded and eligible. We ensure the necessary resources so that support reaches farms on time and financial stability in agriculture is maintained, without additional burden on the state budget," the relevant minister, Florin Barbu, said as quoted in the release.

According to the MADR, following the reimbursement on 5 January 2026, the total value of reimbursements from the European Commission between 2025 and 2026 stands at approximately 4.08 billion euro and includes all breakdowns of EU funds managed by Romania.

These reimbursements confirm the correct execution of payments to farmers, ensure the continuity of financial flows for the payment campaign and reduce pressure on the national budget, as the funds are reimbursed by the European Commission, the MADR added.

Ministry representatives mentioned that, through the Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture (APIA), the authorisation and payment of amounts for the ongoing campaign will continue, so that farmers receive the support due to them on time.
