A lorry loaded with 18 tonnes of undocumented waste, second-hand goods was stopped at the Border Crossing Point (PTF) Bors by border police and Environmental Guard commissioners, with the waste being returned to the sending company, the Oradea Local Border Police Inspectorate (ITPF) reported on Thursday, Agerpres reports.
The lorry was driven by a 46-year-old Romanian citizen. The Bihor border guards, who carried out on the way into Romania a specific check of the vehicle, found that it was allegedly shipping, according to the customs manifest, various second-hand goods from an Italian company for a Romanian company.
As there were suspicions about the legality of the shipment in question, the border police requested the authorised support of the representatives of the Bihor County Commissariat within the National Environmental Guard.
Following the checks, it was found that the lorry was loaded with 18,000 kilogrammes of waste consisting of second-hand goods, for which the driver did not present a manifest.
"Consequently, guards of the Bors border crossing point, together with workers from the Bihor County Commissariat within the National Environmental Guard, denied access to Romania of this mode of transportation, with the waste being returned to the shipping company."
