Chairman of the Opposition's National Liberal Party (PNL) Ludovic Orban on Monday said referring to the move of the Justice minister regarding the nomination of the National Anti-corruption Directorate (DNA)'s head that Tudorel Toader is "the minister of the ruling parties' criminals".
"I made no comment on the proposal by Tudorel Toader regarding the nomination of the Chief-Prosecutor, on the other hand we cannot fail to draw the clear conclusion that Tudorel Toader is not the minister of those who enforce the law - justices, prosecutors -, he is not the minister to fairly collaborate with the Superior Council of Magistrates (CSM), that is the body watching to the observance of the Constitution, but Tudorel Toader is the minister of the criminals with the ruling parties, he is the minister who only generates a ceaseless pressure upon the magistrates, he is the minister who acts as a political tool of the [ruling, ed.n.] PSD [Social Democratic Party, ed.n.], of [PSD leader, Chamber of Deputies' Speaker] Dragnea's, [Senate President and Alliance of Liberals and Democrats, ALDE, ed.n.] Tariceanu's, to affect the Judiciary's independence and put an end to any fight against corruption in Romania," Ludovic Orban said at the Parliament Palace.
On Monday, Justice minister Tudorel Toader announced he had submitted to President Klaus Iohannis the proposal nominating Adina Florea as the Chief Prosecutor of DNA. On 8 October, the CSM's Prosecutors' Section gave negative opinion to the minister of Justice's nomination of Adina Florea to the above-mentioned position.
