Prosecutor Adina Florea, the proposal of the Minister of Justice for Chief Prosecutor of the National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA), considers that the protocols between the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) and other institutions are "an addition to the law".
During hearings at the Superior Council of the Magistrates Florea said she hadn't known what the protocols were about before the documents had been publicly released.
"Never in my activity have I worked with these protocols. As a matter of fact, and I have said this constantly, I had no knowledge of their content before they were publicly released. In my opinion, these protocols are an addition to the law. (...) I think these protocols have created a framework other than the legal procedural framework providing the base for the work of those joint operative teams set forth in the protocols and, in my view, this exceeds the legal procedural scope," Adina Florea said replying a question from Justice Minister Tudorel Toader. At the same time, Florea emphasized that if she becomes DNA Chief Prosecutor, she will make available to a possible committee of inquiry all the documents required for bringing the judicial truth to light.
Prior to this response, Florea said that the activity scope of the National Anti-Corruption Directorate does not cover investigating abuse of office offences, but high- and medium-level corruption crimes.
