The National Institute of Hydrology and Water Management (INHGA) on Monday issued a yellow flood warning for flooding and possible exceedance of alert levels, valid until midnight on Tuesday, for rivers in nine counties.
According to the specialist forecast, during the interval 5 January, 12:00 - 6 January, 00:00, rapid rises and increases in flows and water levels are expected on rivers in the following river basins: Crisul Alb - the upstream basin of the Vata de Jos hydrometric station and the tributaries of the downstream sector of the Vata de Jos station (counties of Hunedoara and Arad); Mures - tributaries of the downstream sector below the confluence with the Strei River (Hunedoara and Arad); Bega - the upstream basin of the Faget hydrometric station and tributaries of the downstream sector from the Faget station to upstream of the Chizatau station (Timis and Arad); Timis - tributaries of the downstream sector from the Sadova station to upstream of the Lugoj station; Poganis - the upstream basin of the Cadar Duboz reservoir; Barzava; Moravita (Caras-Severin and Timis); Caras; Nera (Caras-Severin); the Danube - small tributaries of the upstream sector above the confluence with the Cerna River (Mehedinti and Caras-Severin); Desnatui - the upstream basin of the Fantanele reservoir; Jiu - right-bank tributaries of the downstream sector below the confluence with the Motru River up to upstream of the Podari station (Mehedinti and Dolj); Olt - small tributaries of the downstream sector below the Ionesti reservoir (Valcea, Arges, Olt and Dolj); and Oltet - tributaries of the downstream sector below the confluence with the Cerna River (Valcea, Olt and Dolj).
The warning was sent to the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the National Administration "Apele Romane", the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the media, Hidroelectrica S.A., and the Crisuri, Mures, Banat, Jiu and Olt River Basin Administrations.
