The Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) is inviting institutions and cultural operators from cities across the country to join the organisation of editions of the European Film Festival (FFE) 30 to be held outside Bucharest.

According to a press release from the ICR Press Office sent to AGERPRES on Thursday, this year the festival will mark its 30th edition, an anniversary moment that provides an opportunity to strengthen the event's national network and expand its presence in local communities throughout Romania.

Cultural organisations interested in becoming partners of FFE 2026 may submit collaboration proposals by 15 January to ffe@icr.ro.

"Local events of the European Film Festival will take place in May 2026. In each city, the festival will open with an inaugural evening, followed by two days of screenings, with a programme of three or four films per day. One of the screenings will be dedicated to families and children. In addition, related events may be organised at the proposal of the Romanian Cultural Institute or local partners," the ICR said.

Applications from cultural operators must include: a description of the organisation or cultural activity carried out, details about the proposed venue and existing technical facilities for screenings - with the local partner assuming full responsibility for the costs of projection equipment, information about similar events previously organised or relevant links, as well as a brief rationale and a communication plan.

The results of the selection process will be communicated by email on 30 January 2026.

Full details regarding the involvement of local partners and their responsibilities are available at the link provided by the ICR.

The European Film Festival is organised annually by the Romanian Cultural Institute under the aegis of EUNIC Romania - the Network of National Cultural Institutes of the European Union - in partnership with the Representation of the European Commission in Romania and with the support of European embassies and cultural institutes in the country.

The 2025 edition of the European Film Festival was held in 10 Romanian cities: Bucharest, Brasov, Timisoara, Sfantu Gheorghe, Botosani, Deva, Iasi, Chitila, Targu Jiu and Targu Mures. The programme featured 40 feature films, including 28 national premieres, as well as two short film selections.
