The Government approved, on Wednesday, the development of the Integrated IT System of the Environmental Fund Administration (AFM), an investment worth 144.8 million lei, financed by the European Fund for Sustainable Development.
The project's execution duration is 24 months, informs a Government press release.
Thus, the substantiation note regarding the necessity and opportunity of carrying out the investment was approved. The decision approves and allocates the necessary funds for the development of the project aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity and streamlining the management of the funds.
"The development of this information system is necessary because the current IT infrastructure of the AFM is fragmented, based on a heterogeneous hardware and software infrastructure, which limits operational efficiency and the capacity to respond to current needs. The project aims to integrate all the institution's activities into a unitary information system, offering a modern, secure IT infrastructure compatible with the latest European standards regarding cybersecurity, interoperability and digital accessibility. Thus, the AFM will become more efficient, more transparent and will ensure the protection of data under its responsibility," the press release states.
Through this project, the AFM aims to reduce bureaucracy, increase the speed of processing applications, and improve the quality of decisions.
Also, beneficiaries will have "much easier" access to information and services and communication with the institution will be done exclusively digitally, with secure authentication and electronic signature.
"This will allow the construction of future environmental programs based on integrated data, reported in real time, with measurable results and credible forecasts. Thus, the funds managed by AFM will generate a real impact on the environment and on the strategic objectives assumed by Romania", the Government informs.
