The minimum gross wage guaranteed will be differentiated according to the education level or the seniority, the gov't informs in a release sent on Tuesday night to AGERPRES.
According to the source, premier Viorica Dancila, Labour minister Lia Olguta Vasilescu, and Public Finance minister Eugen Teodorovici met on Tuesday at the Victoria Palace with representatives of the trade unions and the employers' associations, who were presented the gov't draft decision regarding the minimum gross wage increase: 2,080 lei/month, which means a net 100 lei increase.
"Moreover, the decision is made to reinsert the gross minimum wage guaranteed differentiated by the education level or the seniority, a concept that has been already used in Romania's legislation before 2011: 2,350 lei gross salary, meaning by 13pct higher than the wage gained by the persons with no higher education or with a seniority smaller than 15 years," the gov't release stresses.
The gov't specifies that it showed openness to a proposal tabled by the trade unions at the last sitting of the National Three-Party Council, a proposal that is in accordance with the ruling programme's provisions, too.
"Upon the discussions with the trade unions and the employers' associations, an unanimous conclusion is reached, namely that the increase of the minimum wage is necessary, the only divergence being over the kick off date to applying the measure: the trade unions asked for 1 November 2018, the employers' associations demanded as of 1 January 2019," the release says.
According to the source, the gov't will make a decision shortly and it will be communicated publicly, so that the loan managers and the companies in Romania prepare the enforcement of the measure, the release concludes.
