Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare is paying an official visit to Paris between 11 and 13 January 2026, leading Romania's delegation for the assessment within the Economic and Development Review Committee (EDRC), an event marking one of the final stages in Romania's accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), according to a release of the Finance Ministry.

The government delegation led by Minister Alexandru Nazare includes experts from relevant ministries, as well as representatives of the National Bank of Romania (BNR).

"The meetings held these days aim to validate Romania's economic reform progress and to complete a decisive step in the OECD accession process. The assessment and exchanges of views are important not only for confirming the achievements made, but also for shaping a strategy for balanced and resilient economic growth. They help strengthen Romania's credibility with international partners and create the conditions for a stable economic climate focused on long-term development and real convergence with advanced economies," Alexandru Nazare mentioned.

The official agenda of Monday, 12 January, includes a series of bilateral meetings with key OECD leaders to strengthen the political and technical support needed for Romania's accession process.

Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare is scheduled for an initial discussion with Manal Corwin, Director of the Centre for Tax Policy and Administration at the OECD, focusing on technical dialogue regarding fiscal policies and international economic governance standards. Later on Monday, he will meet with Mathias Cormann, OECD Secretary-General, to discuss Romania's progress and the accession calendar, as well as Romania's main macroeconomic developments.

The central event of the visit takes place on Tuesday, 13 January, at the OECD headquarters, where the Romanian delegation led by Minister Alexandru Nazare participates in the assessment session of the Economic and Development Review Committee.

This stage particularly targets the debate of the Draft Economic Survey for Romania, 2026 edition, a strategic document for the accession process, as well as a detailed analysis of macroeconomic indicators and the structural reforms implemented by Romania's Government.

The 2026 Economic Survey includes four chapters, covering macroeconomic developments and public policy challenges, social policies, combating the effects of climate change and enhancing competitiveness.

The discussions will also focus on improving the conditions for the business environment, boosting economic competitiveness and encouraging private investments, including through a more predictable tax framework and more efficient administration.

The participation in the EDRC assessment is a decisive step in aligning Romania with the standards of the world's most developed economies, reaffirming the country's strong commitment to economic stability and sustainable reforms.
