The budget deficit target for 2026 is around 6%, announced Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare in a press conference on Tuesday.
"Regarding the deficit target, as we discussed in each individual rectification, it is around 6%, it is also under discussion during the budget preparation and after we continue and close all the discussions, with the coordinators, but also with the commission, we will have a final deficit target, but it will be in the lines previously announced", Nazare specified.
The Minister of Finance stated that for 2026 the growth projection is around 1% for 2026, and the GDP forecast is 2,045 billion lei.
"It is essential that this budget prioritizes these extremely important chapters and for this we are projecting, in the PNRR area alone, we are talking about 10.7 billion euros, of which 7.2 billion euros are grants and 3.5 billion euros are loans. (...) In addition to these 10 billion euros from the PNRR, we are projecting 5 billion euros in expenditure by the ministries for cohesion funds, approximately 25 billion lei, to which is added another 5 billion euros which are European funds intended for agriculture. So we are talking about approximately 20 billion euros in investments, over 100 billion lei in investments in the 2026 budget, extremely important money for the economic recovery, which is what we want for 2026. The growth projection is around 1% for 2026, the forecasted GDP is around 2,045 billion (lei ed.n)," added the Minister of Finance.
