Romanian tennis player Filip Cristian Jianu won the ITF tournament in Antalya (M15), with total prize money of 15,000 dollars, on Sunday, after his opponent in the final, Japan's Akira Santillan, retired at 6-3, 2-0.
Jianu (24, ATP's No 252nd), the top seed, secured the victory after 47 minutes, in his first ever meeting with Santillan (28, ATP's No 311th), the second seed.
On his way to the final, Jianu defeated Bulgaria's George Lazarov 6-4, 6-3 in the first round, Germany's Christoph Gayk in the last 16 at 4-0 following retirement, had a difficult quarter-final against compatriot Radu Mihai Papoe which he won in three sets 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 and in the semi-finals he prevailed over Dutch player Ryan Nijboer 6-4, 6-2.
Jianu now has 16 ITF titles to his name, two of them won this year, both in Antalya (M25, M15).
The doubles title was won by the Romanian-Italian pair Mihai Razvan Marinescu and Samuele Pieri, after a 6-3, 6-4 victory in the final against Romanians Calin Apostol and Dan Alexandru Tomescu.
