The Buzau City Hall will rehabilitate thirty apartment blocks by August 2026 through a project financed by the EU via the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), with this being the largest contract in the country at this time, worth 75 million euros.
The local administration signed on Wednesday the contract for seismic consolidation and thermal rehabilitation works related to the project "Integrated Renovation of 30 Apartment Blocks in Buzau" financed through the PNRR - Component C5 - Renovation Wave. The value of the contract amounts to approximately 75 million euros.
"We are signing the second contract financed through the PNRR, which involves energy efficiency for the 30 components of the contract as well as their consolidation. These 30 blocks need moderate consolidation, they are not at risk of collapse. It is an execution contract worth 75 million euros with VAT, it is the largest in the country at the moment. The contract will be completed next year, in August, but we hope to finish earlier," said the head of the Project Development and Implementation service within the specialized apparatus of the Buzau City Hall, Luminita Colteanu.
According to the mayor of Buzau, Constantin Toma, the project is meant to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in the city by 30%.
"There will be complex works so that we will do both rehabilitation and seismic consolidation, as well as thermal rehabilitation works, rehabilitation of the heating system, thermal rehabilitation works of the hot water system, replacement of the carpentry, modernisation works of lighting installations, alternative systems for producing electricity or heat for own consumption, replacement works of the elevator traction system, roof repair and rainwater collection, restoration of interior finishes," said the mayor of Buzau, Constantin Toma.
