Final electricity consumption in Romania increased in the first 10 months of 2018 by 1.8 percent compared, y-o-y, totalling 46.087 billion kWh, according to data released on Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
Public lighting consumption decreased by 5.4 percent and household consumption decreased by 12.2 percent. Technological consumption in networks and stations was 4.633 billion kWh, down 107 million kWh. Electricity exports reached 4.782 billion kWh, down 689.2 million kWh.
January 1 - October 31, primary energy sources increased by 1.6 percent and electricity prices remained at the same level as in the same period of the previous year. The main primary energy sources totalled 28,711 million tonnes of oil equivalent (toe), up 462,700 toe.
Domestic production amounted to 17.464 million toe, down 177,600 toe against the same period last year, and imports were standing at 11.247 million toe.
Electricity resources amounted to about 55.503 billion kWh, up 20 million kWh.
Production in thermal power stations was 21.248 billion kWh, down 1.466 billion kWh (-6.5 percent). Electricity generated by water power plants exceeded 15.905 billion kWh, up 3.677 billion kWh (+ 31 percent), while nuclear power plants put out 9.357 billion kWh, down 152.6 million kWh (-1.6 percent).
Electricity generated by wind farms between January 1 and October 31, 2018 was standing at 5.294 billion kWh, down 832.1 million kWh, while electricity generated by sun power reached 1.577 billion kWh, down 190.1 million kWh from the same period of 2017.
