The Minister of Education, Mihai Damian, stated on Tuesday, during a press conference held in Ia?i, that the ministry has absorbed, during the period 2021-2025, almost half of the funds allocated to education through the National Recovery and Resilience Program (PNRR) and that an acceleration of the implementation of these projects is desired.

While on a working visit to the municipality and county of Ia?i, the Minister of Education told the press that the aim is to boost, accelerate and implement PNRR projects in order to achieve the highest possible absorption rate.

"In almost five years of implementation, 2021 - 2025, approximately half of the funds allocated to Education through the PNRR have been absorbed. We still have a few months to absorb as much of the other half as possible. It is a very big challenge," said Minister Mihai Damian.

He also stated that the repayment period was reduced from almost 90 days, as it was at the end of last year, to less than 45 days at the end of March, and on certain axes to 30 days.

"This message is important to reach those who implement projects, from direct beneficiaries to builders or suppliers of equipment and furniture. They must have confidence that they will continue to receive the money on time, and they must also emphasize the delivery processes and the constructions they have to do. (...) An additional effort is needed in the coming period," declared the Minister of Education.

He told journalists that together with the Ministry of Investments and European Projects, a "color code" was established to better highlight areas of risk and optimize project development.

Projects financed from the PNRR must be completed by the deadline of August 31, 2026.
