The Directorate for Investigating of Organised Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) has dismissed a high-treason complaint filed by national leader of the opposition National Liberal Party (PSNL) Ludovic Orban against Prime Minister Viorica Dancila in connection with a memorandum to relocate the Romanian Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
According to a DIICOT statement, the case was closed because the facts did not exist.
On May 17, Orban announced that having filed a complaint with the Prosecutor's Office with the Supreme Court of Justice as a "citizen of Romania" over certain facts committed by Prime Minister Viorica Dancila and national leader of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Liviu Dragnea. Subsequently, the complaint was forwarded to DIICOT.
Orban claimed that his accusations levelled at Dancila were related to the "preparation, adoption, public disclosure" and all that happened after the government adopted the memorandum on the relocation of the Romanian Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
The complaint also referenced Dragnea over the disclosure of state secrets, according to Orban.
