The Dancila Government grants a special importance to preventing and fighting violence against women, through policies meant to support women who fall victims of this scourge, Deputy Prime Minister Ana Birchall said on Sunday, according to Agerpres.
"In 1999, the UN General Assembly established the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25 November. Thus, marking this day aimed at raising awareness of a phenomenon that affects the fundamental human rights, such as the right to life, security, freedom, dignity, physical and mental integrity, and which requires long-term efforts by the authorities in terms of prevention and combating,"Ana Birchall wrote on Facebook.
She underscored that she always believed that "one of the most concerning problems of the society is violence."
Deputy PM Birchall mentioned she fought for Romania to be among the countries with a modern legislation in terms of preventing and fighting violence against women and domestic violence.
Moreover, Deputy PM Birchall conveyed to "the women who suffer in silence" that "they are not alone."
"Today, I will make use again of this opportunity to convey to all the women who suffer in silence, prisoners of this phenomenon, that they are not alone. I am proud the the Dancila Government grants a special importance to preventing and fighting violence against women through public policies meant to support the women who fell victims to this scourge. I will personally get further involved, together with all those who support this cause, until domestic violence, the violence against women or the violence against children will remain only scars of our society. Only together can we truly say a firm NO to violence, because, at any moment and at any level, violence raises violence," Ana Birchall said.
