The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) on Monday issued new warnings of Code Yellow for frost and extremely low temperatures, valid throughout the country until Wednesday morning.
According to meteorologists, on Monday, between 10.00 am and 8.00 pm, a first Code Yellow for frosty weather come into force for most of Moldova and Transylvania, Dobrogea, the southern, central and eastern parts of Wallachia, as well as southern Oltenia, where extremely low temperatures will be recorded (on average 5-9 degrees lower than normal for the date), with values that will generally fall between -8 and -4 degrees. Also, in northern Moldova, as well as in the depressions and valleys of Transylvania, frost will persist and temperatures will be around -10 degrees, agerpres reports.
At the same time, between January 19, 8.00 pm and January 20, 10.00 am, the second Code Yellow warning of extremely low temperatures and frost will enter into force in most of the country. Minimum temperatures will generally range between -20 and -8 degrees.
On Tuesday, between 10.00 am and 8.00 pm, in the counties of Botosani, Iasi, Harghita, Mures, Cluj, Alba and Hunedoara, extremely low temperatures will continue to be recorded (on average 5 - 9 degrees lower than normal for the date), with values that will range between -8 and -4 degrees, lower to around -10 degrees, in valleys and depressions, where frost will persist.
Another Code Yellow of extremely cold weather will be valid from January 20, 8.00 pm to January 21, 10.00 am, throughout the country, where minimum temperatures will generally range between -20 and -8 degrees.
In addition, meteorologists have also issued a new information of extremely cold weather, frost, increased winds, mixed precipitation and ice, which targets the entire country until Thursday morning.
On the night of Wednesday to Thursday (January 21/22) there will still be frost in the north and centre of the country, where thermal values will generally range between -17 and -9 degrees, while in the southern and southeastern regions, there will be locally mixed precipitation and ice.
Temporarily, there will be increased winds in southern Banat and in limited areas in the southeastern regions, with speeds generally of 40 - 50 km/h, amplifying the sensation of cold.
