The National Road Investment Company (CNIR) has developed and submitted, to the Management Authority within the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the application for non-reimbursable European financing of the project ''Brasov-Targu Mures-Cluj-Oradea Motorway, subsection 3C2 Chiribis-Biharia, km 30+550 -km 59+100'', CNIR announced on Wednesday, Agerpres reports.
"The funding request was submitted today, 31.12.2025, and concerns the design and construction contract for the 28.5-kilometer lot in Bihor County, respectively the execution of works for the Spinus road junction, intersection A3 with DN 1P," a post on the CNIR Facebook page states.
The total value of the project (including VAT) is 1.248 billion RON, and the eligible value is 1.031 billion RON.
"We would like to point out that, in accordance with the latest amendments to the Transport Program, the EU co-financing quota is 60% of the eligible value of the project," the CNIR representatives noted.
The funding request was submitted within the Call "Investment projects on the Central TEN-T road network, as well as on certain sections of the Global TEN-T", investment projects located on the Central TEN-T railway network, including support projects for the preparation of technical and economic documentation.
The implementation of this project contributes to ensuring the continuity and connectivity of the A3 motorway between the localities of Chiribis and Biharia, located in Bihor county, over a length of approximately 28.55 km, facilitating the direct connection between the northwestern area of Romania and the state border with Hungary (Bors II Customs).
On lot 3C2 Chiribis-Biharia, 18 bridges and overpasses will be built, and among the modern facilities are a "SPEED" system for monitoring and detecting speed, a security system equipped with installations and cameras every 2 kilometers for detecting road incidents, as well as dynamic weighing systems for moving vehicles.
