The Roman-Catholic Archdiocese in Bucharest is organizing on Sunday the traditional procession of the Palm Sunday on the streets of Bucharest, Agerpres reports.
"In order to mark the celebration of Palm Sunday in the Catholic Church, in Latin Rite, on Sunday, April 10, for the first time since the pandemic began in Bucharest, the traditional Palm Sunday procession will take place, where the faithful, the consecrated persons and priests from communities and Roman-Catholic parishes from Bucharest and all around can take part," the Archdiocese informs, in a Facebook post.
The Roman-Catholic Archbishop in Bucharest, His Eminence Aurel Perca, will lead the procession for the first time, after taking the Bucharest Archdiocese into canonical possession on January 11, 2020, given that Easter in 2020 was celebrated in conditions of the state of emergency, without the participation of the faithful in churches, and Easter 2021, in conditions of state of alert, with the limited participation to sermons and suspending processions.
"For the Roman-Catholic believers, participation in the procession and the Holy Liturgy on Palm Sunday is an opportunity of public confession of faith and unity with all Christian Catholics in Romania and the whole world. We are glad that we can once again organize the holy procession of Palm Sunday on the streets of the Capital City; at the same time, on this very day when at the Holy Liturgy the Proclamation of the Savior's Martyrdom is taking place, we keep in our prayers all people who are suffering all around the world, especially those who are suffering from the tragic consequences of the war in Ukraine," said Aurel Perca, according to the quoted source.
The Procession and the Holy Liturgy of Palm Sunday will be broadcast live by Angelus TV.
Palm Sunday celebrates Christ's solemn entrance into Jerusalem, an event in the memory of which takes place the faithful's procession on the streets of the city, and opens the Holy Week, which reminds of the Passions of Christ and culminates with celebrating the Holy Resurrection.
