The Mayor of Bucharest, Ciprian Ciucu, discussed with World Bank representatives financing solutions for a series of projects regarding local administration.
"I had a very good meeting with the World Bank management to find financing solutions for the following directions of action: the administrative reform of Bucharest, of the local governance system, including budgetary balancing, and to have an efficient financial management at the City Hall level; the creation of public-private partnerships to finance public investments that the city needs [the construction of underground public parking lots in the central area]", the mayor announced on Tuesday on Facebook.
He mentions that they also discussed ensuring co-financing for the main public investment projects: the water and sewer network, the tram network, the rehabilitation of the depots and the district heating system.
"We also discussed the status of the Integrated Urban Development Strategy carried out with the support of the World Bank. It only needs an opinion from the Environment Agency to be submitted to the vote of the general council. Based on the Integrated Urban Development Strategy, the Bucharest City Hall and the sectors of the Bucharest municipality will be able to access the European funding dedicated to our city", adds Ciucu.
The mayor specifies that he did not have time to respond to "political attacks" and that he does not let himself be drawn into "sterile" disputes, because he is looking for solutions to the problems of the capital.
"These days, I don't really have time to respond to the various political attacks, I don't get drawn into sterile disputes, but I focus exclusively on finding the solutions that Bucharest needs. We need to balance ourselves financially and identify ways to unblock and continue major investment projects", Ciprian Ciucu also wrote.
