Border Police manage over 36 projects co-financed from European funds

The General Inspectorate of Border Police (IGPF) presented on Wednesday the results obtained within the projects with European funding through the National Program 2021 - 2027, which have a total value of over 192 million euros.

The General Inspectorate of Border Police organized, on Wednesday, an event dedicated to presenting the status and results recorded within the projects with European funding through the National Program 2021-2027 "Border Management and Visas", co-financed from the Financial Support Instrument for Border Management and Visa Policy IMFV, informs the IGPF Press Office.

Currently, the Border Police manage over 36 projects co-financed from European funds dedicated to internal affairs, with a total value of over 192 million euros. Also, at the level of the Romanian Border Police in 2025, 77 projects were being implemented, with a value of over 242 million euros, currently being evaluated/in the process of signing projects worth approximately 123 million euros.

"European funds are not simple one-off investments, but directly contribute to increasing the level of security at the borders of Romania and the European Union, to improving the response capacity and to strengthening operational cooperation with other member states and with relevant European agencies", the Inspector General of the IGPF, Cornel Laurian Stoica said on Wednesday.

The event was attended by representatives of DG HOME - European Commission, of the Audit Authority - Court of Accounts of Romania, of the Managing Authority - Directorate for Non-Reimbursable External Funds within the Ministry of Internal Affairs, along with 60 participants from national authorities and institutional partners involved in the projects.

"The investments aim at modernizing the naval fleet, mobility means, surveillance and control systems, individual equipment and operational infrastructure. The acquired equipment supports national missions and joint operations with the Frontex Agency, strengthening interoperability and common standards of action at the external borders of the European Union", the press release reads.
