At the end December 2025, the National Bank of Romania's (BNR) foreign exchange reserves stood at EUR 64,800 million, compared to EUR 65,408 million on 30 November 2025 and EUR 62,135 million on 31 December 2024, according to a BNR release sent to AGERPRES on Monday.
During the month, the following flows were recorded: EUR 3,268 million worth of inflows representing: changes in credit institutions' foreign currency-denominated required reserves with the BNR, inflows into the Ministry of Finance's accounts and other.
Moreover, EUR 3,876 million worth of outflows representing: changes in credit institutions' foreign currency-denominated required reserves with the BNR, interest payments and principal repayments on foreign currency public debt, payments from the European Commission's account and other.
The gold stock remained steady at 103.6 tonnes. However, following the change in the international price of gold, its value amounted to EUR 12,217 million, compared to EUR 12,011 million on 30 November 2025 and EUR 8,356 million on 31 December 2024.
On 31 December 2025, Romania's international reserves (foreign currencies and gold) stood at EUR 77,017 million, compared to EUR 77,419 million on 30 November 2025 and EUR 70,491 million on 31 December 2024.
In January 2026, the payments due on the foreign currency-denominated public and publicly guaranteed debt amount to approximately EUR 389 million.
