785 persons flagged in Schengen Information System tracked down between Dec 19 - 30

Between December 19 and 30, 2025, Romanian Police and their partners in the Schengen Area tracked down 785 people, 38 vehicles and 310 documents subject to alerts issued in the Schengen Information System (SIS), the Romanian Police Inspectorate General (IGPR) informed in a statement.

617 persons subject to SIS alerts were located in Romania following additional information exchanges through the SIRENE Bureau of IGPR's International Police Cooperation Center.

Romanian police carried out 25 European arrest warrants, located 66 people flagged by member states as having been refused entry or residence in the Schengen Area, 281 persons wanted for participation in judicial proceedings, and 13 people who were reported missing by Schengen partners.

Also, 40 documents were seized in Romania, and 35 vehicles sought by Schengen partners were found and seized for confiscation or use as evidence in legal proceedings.

168 persons wanted by the Romanian authorities were identified by foreign partners on their territory, following the exchange of information through the SIRENE Bureau of the International Police Cooperation Center - Romanian Police Inspectorate General.

Of these, 41 were sought by the Romanian Police on the basis of European arrest warrants, 22 were flagged as being under entry or residence bans in the Schengen Area, another 42 people were wanted for participation in judicial proceedings, and 15 were reported missing by Romanian authorities.

Foreign partners also discovered 270 documents and three vehicles on their territory, for seizure or use as evidence in criminal proceedings.

As of January 1, 2025, the moment of Romania's full Schengen accession, border controls at the country's internal border, specifically at the border with Hungary and Bulgaria, were lifted. Police can perform checks through the eDAC application when required.
