A total of 160 measles cases were reported in August, the majority of which were from Cluj County (52 cases) and Constanta County (19 cases), the National Institute of Public Health (INSP) announced.
'Between 1 January 2023 and 31 August 2025, a total of 35,584 confirmed measles cases were reported in Romania, including 30 deaths (5 in Bucharest, 4 in Brasov County, 3 in Giurgiu County, 2 each in the counties of Arges, Iasi, Suceava and Satu Mare, and 1 each in Mures, Sibiu, Buzau, Constanta, Alba, Ialomita, Vaslui, Bacau, Bihor and Botosani),' the source mentioned.
According to the INSP, between 1-31 August 2025, based on data extracted from RENV (the National Electronic Vaccination Registry), a total of 20,580 doses of MMR vaccine (measles, mumps and rubella) were administered from the national stock.
