Chairman of the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) Kelemen Hunor said on Friday that he is glad that President Klaus Iohannis has accepted the invitation of his Hungarian counterpart Katalin Novak for an even belated visit to Budapest, although such meetings should take place annually.
"It's very good that Iohannis goes on this visit, I'm happy for any such meeting, because good relations are needed at president level too. There is a need for such meetings between the two countries, I think they should take place annually," Kelemen Hunor told a press conference held at the headquarters of UDMR Arad.
Asked to comment on the fact that this is President Iohannis's first official visit to Budapest towards the end of his second term in office, Kelemen Hunor replied that "he probably gets slower into action. I'm glad that he is going at least now, but I don't want to comment."
President Klaus Iohannis will pay an official visit to Hungary next Wednesday, and is scheduled to meet with Hungarian President Katalin Novak, the Presidential Administration informed.
