The Traffic Information Centre of the Romanian Police informed on Thursday morning that there are no motorways closed to traffic as a result of adverse weather conditions.
Fog has been reported reducing visibility in traffic to below 200 metres, in places under 50 metres, on the A2 Bucharest-Cernavoda motorway, between kilometre markers 35 and 160, agerpres reports.
Road traffic is taking place in winter conditions, with snow deposits on the carriageway, on the A1 Bucharest-Ramnicu Valcea, A2 Bucharest-Cernavoda, A3 Bucharest-Brasov, A7 Ploiesti-Adjud and A0 Bucharest Ring Road motorways, according to a press release.
At 6:00 am, traffic was closed due to snowfall on DN 22A Cataloi (Tulcea)-Harsova (Constanta), DN 2S Jijila-Braila Bridge, and DN 23B, between the localities of Maicanesti-Ciorasti (Vrancea).
Traffic has been restricted for vehicles with a maximum authorised mass exceeding 3.5 tonnes due to adverse weather conditions on the following roads:
DN 38 Vama Negru Voda-Agigea (Constanta)
DN 2A Giurgeni-Lumina (Constanta)
DN 3 Murfatlar (Constanta)-Ostrov (border with Calarasi County)
DN 22 Lumina (Constanta)-Tulcea Municipality
There are also restrictions for vehicles with a maximum authorised mass exceeding 7.5 tonnes due to adverse weather conditions on DN 22, between the locality of Smardan and Tulcea Municipality.
Manoeuvres in the Sulina Branch remain suspended.
As regards rail traffic, services are operating in winter conditions and no blockages have been recorded.
The Traffic Information Centre of the Romanian Police also informed that on the A3 Bucharest-Brasov motorway, at kilometre 26, on the carriageway towards Ploiesti, in the area of Moara Vlasiei in Ilfov County, a road accident occurred involving three articulated lorries, a van and a car, with no casualties reported.
Road traffic is currently taking place on lane 2 towards Ploiesti and on lane 1 towards Bucharest.
The normal flow of traffic was expected to resume after 7:00 am.
