Tennis player Sorana Cirstea will face off against Carol Zhao in the first singles' match between the teams of Romania and Canada in the World Cup of the Fed Cup, on Saturday, at 01:00 pm, in the Sports Hall of Cluj-Napoca, according to the draw made on Friday by the Mayor of Cluj-Napoca, Emil Boc.
Cirstea (27 years old, 38th in WTA) will face Zhao (22 years old, 138th in WTA), the best player of Canada's team.
The second singles' match will be between Irina Begu (27 years, 37th in WTA) and player Bianca Andreescu of Romanian descent (17 years old, 173rd in WTA).
On Sunday, at 12.00, the match between Begu and Zhao will take place, followed by the match between Cirstea and Andreescu. In the doubles' match, the pairs Ana Bogdan / Raluca Olaru and Katherina Sebov / Gabriela Dabrowski will encounter, but depending on the result, changes can be made to the pairs.
Only Begu has met Zhao and defeated her 6-4, 6-4 in 2013 in the Toronto qualifying round.
Romania have two victories in so many matches with Canada. They defeated Canada 3-2 at Montreal in April 2015, and because of this victory they promoted to the World Cup. Romania have another victory over Canada, in 1983, in Zurich, 3-0 in the first round of the World Group.
