Romanian tennis player Miriam Bulgaru qualified on Tuesday for the round of 16 of the WTA 125 tournament in Palermo (Italy), with a total prize pool of 100,000 euros, after defeating fifth-seeded Swiss Simona Waltert 6-4, 6-0.
Bulgaru (26 years old, no. 229 WTA) won after one hour and 25 minutes.
Waltert (24 years old, no. 124 WTA) had won the first match in 2019 at the ITF tournament in Szekesfehervar (Hungary), 5-7, 6-3, 10-8 in the second round of qualifying.
Miriam Bulgaru secured a cheque for 1,740 euros and 15 WTA points, and in the second round she will encounter Spanish player Kaitlin Quevedo (19 years old, no. 262 WTA), who came from the qualifications.
