The High Court of Cassation and Justice on Tuesday ordered the acquittal of former Senate President Calin Popescu-Tariceanu for the offenses of abuse of office and complicity in usurpation of official qualities, agerpres reports.
This is the case in which Tariceanu was sent to court by the General Prosecutor's Office in December 2020, being accused of not finding and not voting in the plenary sitting of the Senate the termination of the term of senator of Cristian Marciu, although the latter had a final court decision court by which he was declared incompatible and could no longer hold a public office.
Former senator Cristian Marciu was acquitted in the same case, but the decision is not final.
