Secretary of State for Strategic and Bilateral Affairs in the Euro-Atlantic area George Ciamba on Tuesday met with the Estonian Ambassador to Romania, Ants Frosch, the said dignitaries specifying that the two countries' bilateral relations are "very good and constantly growing, based on a constant dialogue," a release by the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) sent to AGERPRES informs.
The two officials reviewed the calendar of the high-level last years' meetings and talked about the actions schedule due in 2018.
"In this respect, the Romanian Secretary of State stressed that the Tallinn-Constanta direct flight to be operated by the Nordica Estonian airline starting with 16 June creates opportunities for the development of the commercial and tourist exchanges between the two countries. Moreover, the importance of the year 1918 for both Romania and Estonia was evoked, the Baltic state celebrating 100 years of state independence," the MAE release says.
Talks have highlighted Romania's and Estonia's similar stances regarding most of the current European files and common interests in security, as well as the importance both countries give to a consistent allied presence on NATO's Eastern flank as regards defence and deterrence, due to the security challenges in the Baltic Sea and the Black Sea regions."
"State Secretary George Ciamba stressed the importance of advocating the EU enlargement process with the Western Balkans' states. The common interest of Romania and Estonia for the promotion of the Eastern Partnership was also highlighted. In the context, the two dignitaries had an exchange of views regarding the support given to the European path of the Republic of Moldova," the release adds.
Moreover, Ciamba and Frosch reviewed the main landmarks of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2019, mentioning the organisation of the European Summit in Sibiu and Romania's commitment to actively contribute to the debate on Europe's future, the MAE release concludes.
