The Romanian National Post Company and Romfilatelia announced the release of the stamp issue "Famous Composers. George Enescu" as of Wednesday.
According to a Romfilatelia release sent to AGERPRES on Monday, the issue, dedicated to marking 70 years since the passing of the great composer, includes a postage stamp with a face value of 25 RON and a "first day" envelope.
The stamp in the issue features a portrait photograph of the composer taken upon completion of his studies in Paris, paired with an image of the facade of the Romanian Athenaeum - a landmark of the Capital where Enescu often performed and whose organ was acquired with his direct support.
By scanning the QR code on the stamp minisheet, philately enthusiasts can discover the story behind the stamp issue.
The issue will be available in Romfilatelia's stores network in Bucharest, Bacau, Brasov, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi, Timisoara, as well as online.
George Enescu remains one of the most prominent cultural figures of the 20th century, having taken on the role of music ambassador both at home and abroad, contributing to the international recognition of Romanian composers, conductors and performers. A composer, violinist, pianist, conductor and teacher, an undisputed figure of the Romanian culture, listed among humanity's great personalities, Enescu is, without a doubt, a national brand, the quoted source mentioned.
