Specialists in cybersecurity, digital education and cybercrime prevention have developed guidelines on the responsible use of artificial intelligence explaining how to identify false content generated with the help of AI (deepfake), automated messages or manipulation attempts that use emotions.

"Artificial intelligence is already part of our everyday lives. We use it to access information quicker, communicate more easily, and organize our activities. However, these technologies can influence the way we think, feel, and make decisions, sometimes in ways that are difficult to notice. The Romanian National Cyber Security Directorate (DNSC), together with the Romanian Police, the National Cyberint Center within the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI), and the Cloud Security Alliance Romanian Chapter (CSA_RO), highlight the importance of collaboration in preventing risks in the digital environment. In an online space dominated by personalized content and algorithms that shape what we see and read; real protection requires the involvement of everyone: institutions, schools, families, and communities," DNSC reported on Thursday.

In this context, during the 'Safer Internet Day 2026' awareness week we recommend accessing, downloading and distributing the guide "Artificial Intelligence & Manipulation of Human Perception", developed as part of the educational program "Analyse - Decide - Act".

"The document was designed by specialists in cybersecurity, digital education and cybercrime prevention from partner institutions and is available on the DNSC website in Romanian and English, respectively, " according to DNSC.

It explains in clear terms how AI-generates false content (deepfakes), automated messages, or manipulation attempts that exploit emotions.

The document also provides practical recommendations and simple digital hygiene rules designed to help users recognize risks, verify information, and develop critical thinking skills.

"Manipulation can be prevented, and digital resilience can be strengthened only through collective efforts. Online safety begins with information, verification, and responsibility," said DNSC.
