Romanian tennis player Simona Halep was voted January 2018 WTA Player of the Month, by an overwhelming number of votes in the survey carried out on the WTA website.
Simona Halep, WTA's No 2, got 71 percent of the votes, followed at a great distance by Danish Caroline Wozniacki, with 25 percent, who defeated her in the Australian Open final and who striped her of the first position in the WTA ranking. German Angelique Kerber was ranked third (3 percent), and Ukrainian Elina Svitonlina came in fourth (1 percent).
