The medical staff of the intensive care unit of the Sibiu Emergency County Clinical Hospital did not intentionally kill the COVID-19 patients in its care, but there is a possibility that 13 patients died due to medical negligence, which is why prosecutors have decided to carry out new investigations in each death for culpable homicide, according to chief prosecutor with the Sibiu Tribunal Prosecutor's Office Ion Vestemean, agerpres reports.
On March 7, 2021, an article was published in a local newspaper called "I killed people too! Shocking revelations from the County Hospital COVID ICU." The next day, the press article was registered with the Sibiu Tribunal Prosecutor's Office. The report drawn as ex-officio action reads in essence that the medical staff of the intensive care unit of the Sibiu County Clinical Hospital treating patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus does not intentionally administer the treatments for the conditions of the patients admitted to that department, as it administers only anesthetics and sedatives, which leads to the death of the majority of patients treated this way.
