Defense Minister Ionut Mosteanu had a video call on Tuesday with his Ukrainian counterpart Denys Shmyhal, where he reiterated "Romania's firm commitment to supporting Ukraine and its openness to deepening bilateral defense cooperation."
"I congratulated him on taking office and wished him success in this position of key responsibility, at a decisive moment for regional and European security. We agreed to organize a bilateral meeting in Kyiv in the near future, for a detailed discussion on our defense cooperation," Deputy Prime Minister Mosteanu wrote on his Facebook page.
According to him, Tuesday's talks approached "the topic of developing joint manufacturing projects", with the sides agreeing to initiate "bilateral projects to significantly strengthen the defense capabilities" of the two countries, including within the framework of the European SAFE initiative.
"Our experts will work in the coming period to outline the concrete steps. (...) Romania stays by Ukraine's side," the Romanian Defense minister also wrote on his social media page.
